Wake Up Movie Synopsis

Jonas Elrod was leading an ordinary life until he woke up one day to a totally new reality. He suddenly could see and hear angels, demons, auras and ghosts.

The documentary movie WAKE UP follows this fascinating story of an average guy who inexplicably developed the ability to access other dimensions. Physicians gave him a clean bill of health and were unable to provide an explanation. What was it? Why was it happening to him? One thing was certain for this 36-year old man – life as he had known it would never be the same.

With his loving but skeptical girlfriend by his side, Jonas crisscrosses the country as he searches for answers and delves deeper into this thrilling world of the phenomenal and spiritual. Along the way, he encounters an amazing group of religious teachers, scientists, mystics and spiritual healers who help him piece together this intricate puzzle.

The film shows how all of us can search inward for our own peace and happiness while contributing towards a positive shift in global consciousness. WAKE UP is a call to consciousness to everyone who sees it; an invitation to accept that there is more to this life than meets the eye.

WAKE UP had its festival premiere at South by Southwest Film Festival in March 2009 and its New York City premiere, hosted by Sting and Trudie Styler, in April 2010. It is being released on DVD in September 2010 by Beyond Words, distributor of the acclaimed films “The Secret” and “What the Bleep Do We Know.” The movie is being privately screened throughout the fall of 2010

About The Filmmakers

Jonas Elrod (Director/Composer)

Jonas grew up in the south listening to people tell the most fascinating stories. Storytelling became his passion leading him to become a filmmaker.

After moving to New York, he got his start at the award winning production company Rockhard Films.  During his time there, Jonas worked on all aspects of production ranging from Director, Producer and Editor.  Focusing primarily on music videos and commercials, he worked with top artist and clients including Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Spike Lee, Nike and ESPN.

In the winter of 2003, Jonas began producing his first feature documentary BEARS.  On this project he traveled across the country for two years, shooting over 200 hours of footage.

So after eight years behind the camera he certainly didn’t expect his next project to be his own story.  His second documentary, WAKE UP, follows him on a personal journey looking for truth and meaning after experiencing a very radical and surprising spiritual awakening.

Jonas is currently signed with Grand Large Inc. as a commercial director and hard at work on his follow-up feature, a southern gothic spiritual thriller, JUNE’S LAST WISH.

The school was established in the 1980s and hosts over 10,000 students from the United States and 60 foreign countries. JZ Knight is the “channel” through which Ramtha delivers his message. Ramtha is an ascended Master Teacher who learned in his lifetime the unlimited potential of our minds for creating reality and the extraordinary in our lives. Ramtha lived as a human being on Earth 35,000 years ago. In that lifetime he discovered the true nature of the human person, the power of the mind, and the malleable nature of physical reality. Through his study of the nature of reality he achieved the supreme convergence of spirit and matter and became an ascended master. His powerful message of hope for humanity has already changed countless lives — none more powerfully and dramatically than JZ’s own life.

Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee, Ph.D., is a Sufi teacher in the Naqshbandiyya-Mujaddidiyya Sufi Order. Born in London in 1953, he has followed the Naqshbandi Sufi path since he was nineteen. In 1991 he moved to Northern California and became the successor of Irina Tweedie, author of Daughter of Fire. In recent years the focus of his writing and teaching has been on spiritual responsibility in our present time of transition, and the emerging global consciousness of oneness (see www.workingwithoneness.org). He has also specialized in the area of dreamwork, integrating the ancient Sufi approach to dreams with the insights of modern psychology. Author of several books, Llewellyn lectures throughout the United States and Europe.

Roger Nelson, Ph.D., is an experimental psychologist with a special interest in the lesser known aspects of perception and cognition. During the 1970′s he was a professor at a small college in Vermont, who typically said yes when good students wanted to do experiments in parapsychology. A series of coincidences led him to Princeton University in 1980, where he coordinated research at the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research (PEAR) lab until he retired in 2002. In 1997 he founded the Global Consciousness Project (GCP) which he continues to direct. Nelson’s broad interests in psychology, physics, philosophy, and the arts have generated many opportunities to collaborate with creative people, including the interdisciplinary teams at PEAR and the GCP, developing technologies and experimental applications to study consciousness, intention, and mind-matter interactions both in the laboratory and in natural situations.

At the PEAR lab, Nelson managed the development of a variety of intention-based experiments, making good use of Princeton’s extraordinary facilities. The University’s school of engineering was at the center of advances in electronic and computer technology, ensuring that the PEAR experiments were at the cutting edge. By 1993, Nelson was using random number generators (RNG) in the field to register correlations of data with special states of group consciousness even in the absence of intentions. A few years later, this work led naturally to the GCP, which exploits the same RNG technology as the lab and field experiments, but in a world-spanning instrument designed to monitor the effects of globally shared emotions or states of consciousness. Like many scientists working at the edges of what we know, Nelson is conservative, demanding high quality science that embodies both skepticism and an open mind. Based on a decade of increasingly persuasive evidence from the GCP analyses, he has shifted focus toward public presentations about the research and its implications.

Stephan A. Schwartz is a Senior Samueli Fellow for Brain, Mind and Healing at the Samueli Institute. He is a Research Associate of the Cognitive Sciences Laboratory of the Laboratories for Fundamental Research, and previously founder and Research Director of the Mobius laboratory, and Director of Research of the Rhine Research Center. For 40 years he has been studying the nature of consciousness, particularly that aspect independent of space and time. Schwartz is part of the small group that founded modern Remote Viewing research, and is the principal researcher studying the use of Remote Viewing in archaeology. Using Remote Viewing he discovered Cleopatra’s Palace, Marc Antony’s Timonium, ruins of the Lighthouse of Pharos, and sunken ships along the California coast, and in the Bahamas. In addition to numerous technical papers and reports on this work he has written four books: The Secret Vaults of Time, The Alexandria Project, Mind Rover and his latest, Opening to the Infinite. His submarine experiment, Deep Quest, using Remote Viewing helped determine that nonlocal perception is not an electromagnetic phenomenon. Other areas of interest include research into creativity and Therapeutic Intent/Healing. He is the columnist for the journal Explore, and editor of the daily web publication Schwartzreport which covers trends that are affecting the future.

Mark Johns-Colson is an enrolled member and a hereditary chief of the Chehalis Tribe. His hereditary name, Syk Amen, means .to remember like the sun. His bloodlines also consist of Yurok and Dakota. He currently lives on the Skokomish reservation in Washington state. He works with children and has co-founded a non-profit charity, Goodthinking 4 all our relations, which provides help for children living in poverty on North American reservations. To find out more about this charity visit 4allourrelations.org.

Umberto di Grazia was working with the Italian Military in the aeronautical field he undertook the study of geophysics specializing in the air school in Florence. He attended the Center for Experimental Cinematography in Rome and got a diploma in acting, becoming a film director and writer. But the great work of Umberto di Grazia is based on the stimulation of the information contained in the unconscious to bring them to a conscious level. Precognition, retro cognition, archeological findings through dreams, psychic intuition, telepathy and remote viewing phenomena are only some of the aspects that have been considered in his studies during these years. He is very well known at an international level for his unusual abilities. Groups of international researchers such as ” Mobius Group” from Los Angeles and Professor Elmar Gruber from Freiburg University in Germany have studied and appreciated his work.

Gary E. Schwartz, Ph.D., is Professor of Psychology, Medicine, Neurology, Psychiatry, and Surgery at the University of Arizona, at the main campus in Tucson. In September 2002 he received a $1.8 million dollars grant from the National Center on Complementary and Alternative Medicine of the National Institutes of Health to create a Center for Frontier Medicine in Biofield Science at the University of Arizona, which he directed for four years. Gary received his Ph.D. in psychology from Harvard University in 1971 and was an assistant professor at Harvard for five years.
